3ds addendum
January 1 2026, 03:55:20 PMturns out my black 3ds wasn't dead and that for some reason my mom decided to reassemble it while i was away without putting the battery back in..
now i did give another shot towards doing what i wanted to do, being replacing the control stick, but alas, i fucked up and broke the sd card slot's io shield, it (and the slot) completely popped off. all thats left is the two solder points, yikes. now i dont know anything regarding soldering but perhaps i could tape it back together.
i have a flame metallic red 3ds (which i have previously on multiple instances in the past erroneously referred to as being a "christmas 2011 bundle" 3ds, when it was in fact a super mario 3d land bundle 3ds manufactured in 2012), but the housing is completely fucked so id say its a for-parts system. in fact i was trying to transplant its motherboard into the black 3ds, but i put the whole thing on hold after struggling with those touch screen ribbon cables.
not a major loss, i still got one functioning 3ds system, being my pearl pink 3ds, but its also fucked. it fell off my desk sometime in 2024 (judging from the large gaps in the activity logger or whatever thats called) and the impact was nasty. this completely broke the camera module and caused the shell to crack a little bit. i didnt realize this until i was trying to open the denpa men and it completely crashed.
