for a while, i've wanted an ipad. the only ipads i own are too old (ipad mini 1 on ios 9.3.5 and ipad mini 2 on ios 12.5.7) and they have broken glass. i originally wanted something like an ipad air. i don't need an ipad pro in my opinion because i only really want an ipad for drawing. however, as i'm in the process of buying parts for my future pc (i only have the case and motherboard as of writing this), so i decided to cheap out and get myself one of those old base ipads, it was a refurbished 8th gen from amazon.
when my ipad arrived and i powered it on, i saw that it was using the default ipados 14 wallpaper. when i finished setting it up i instantly checked the settings app and i saw it was on 14.5.1, holy fucking shit. while app support for it is dropping, i don't really care. i was only going to use this for drawing. i still think its neat i can finally have a jailbroken idevice thats not "ancient" by current standards. the jailbreak i used was taurine which is semi-untethered. it reminds me of phoenix in a way, which is a (rather shitty imho) semi-untethered jailbreak for ios 9.3.5/6. something ive realized when opening sileo is a lot of the tweaks there are paid compared to back in the cydia days, at least in the chariz (lol) and havoc repos. but thats fine.
